FOCUS has introduced three urinary biomarkers for detection and monitoring of renal injury:

alpha-GST is a cystolic protein highly specific for the cells of the proximal renal tubules. There it is found in high concentrations and is readily released into the urine in the event of renal tubular injury. Urinary alpha-GST is a highly sensitive and specific biomarker of proximal tubular injury.

Genotyping volunteer populations for clinical trials

June 2007: FOCUS GmbH has opened an additional 6-8 bed hospital based research unit in the University Clinic of Heinrich Heine University in Dusseldorf, Germany...

The first phase I study has already been performed by the FOCUS staff in this hospital based unit. Due to its full service coverage by the university clinic facilities (medical specialists and ICU team) it will be particularly suitable for First-into-Man studies with high risk compounds.
